So I posted in a general similar to this one yesterday asking where the lasting appeal was

I actually hadn't watched it and was told to promptly do so, so I did.

It's very nice. Nicer then I thought. Well animated and very bright and colourful. I'd let my little nieces watch it.

And that's exactly what I couldn't take my mind off of. It doesn't matter how well you frame it, it is a children show designed for... [wait for it]... Children.

My conclusion is that while it was aesthetically pleasing you should all be deeply ashamed of yourselves for taking this shit way too far. It's really fucking sad.

See also: 'brony meet-ups'. Goddamn if that wasn't the saddest shit I ever saw. Perhaps they pursued each-others company to make themselves look good by comparison, I wouldn't know.

we hate the meetups too. The fandom's kinda split into a bunch of different groups. There's the /co/ group and the ponychan group, both of which hate each other. Ponychan's kinda like your typical heavily moderated hugbox chan, and they're mostly the ones who shove pony in everyone's faces and organise the meetups. /co/ isn't much better, talking about horse penises all day

Honestly it's not designed exclusively for children, it's for families. children and their parents, not just x or y, both. There are many-a nudges towards the observive like Twilight in Running of the Leaves reading "Eggheads' guide to Running" and having the number 42, and when Twilight and Spike is being chased around in Ticket Master a Yakety Sax innuendo ensues, and more. No child would understand those hints, and that only helps prove my point. I actually think there's a site or if it's on EQD that shows such points in the show.

As for why I like it. It's just, nice animation, uses much of the stuff that I liked about Looney Toons and doesn't take itself too seriously.

I actually find myself unable to sexualize the ponies, I just can't get off to them, which has never happened before. I guess some things can be just too innocent.
