>>28669136 There's no actual RULE about how staff members can't read fanfiction. I can't imagine they don't secretly. But its most writers and game designers and generally anyone making something in media they plan to SELL to avoid reading fanfiction or ideas.
Why? Because the minute you see it, you can't use the idea, or there's grounds for legal action from the provider. See, if you make money off the idea, and don't attribute it to the person, EVEN IF YOU DID TRULY COME UP WITH THE IDEA BEFOREHAND, if you show you've read or seen the material, you could legally be in a WORLD of hurt.
Granted, many fans would probably just be happy with an end-credits 'based on idea by xxxxxx' or something, and be done with it. But one look at legal messes in comics will tell you that that goodwill is NOT universal, and as such Hasbro, and really everyone else, just avoid it altogether officially. |
