Yes, they can in fact see it, which is why the rotating ball is a retarded idea. They can see it AT NIGHT, at which point the ball's light would be blocked by the planet itself, preventing it from reaching the comet, making the coma, etc.
And we STILL have the problem of Mr. Fusion Ball roasting the entire planet if it's giving off enough energy to light up a comet at typical comet distances. Oh, and the fact that nothing we've seen anywhere ever in the show or otherwise comes even close to suggesting that they're on any sort of wandering planet, so until you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are using in-show evidence instead of retarded baseless conjecture, I'm going to go ahead and ignore everything said on the subject forever.
