Also, I have this scene in my mind.

Pinkie Pie proudly proclaims herself "the best fighter in the Puddin' Pie Islands" or some other ridiculous location.

The rest of the group is extremely skeptical, so Pinkie offers to prove it by challenging ALL of them to a fight at once.

After some discussion, they agree, and Twilight enchants their weapons to be nonlethal.

What follows is an extended sequence of Pinkie doing her disarm-then-use trick on all the other girls. She'll defeat one girl, take her weapon, then use that weapon on the next girl, then take HER weapon and use it on the NEXT girl, and so on.

For example, she defeats Twilight, takes her spear, then uses her spear to fight Rarity, then takes Rarity's rapier and uses it to fight Dash.

And maybe "The A La Menthe" is playing all the while. And of course Pinkie never stops smiling.

This is an idea for a work I've had running around in my mind for about a month now.

With Luna back home in Equestria, things have been pretty peaceful for the time being, but lately these strange creatures have been popping around at night and sometimes even during the day. These creatures are Nightmares and Dreams that stem from remnants of Luna's power after she was cleansed of Nightmare moon by the Elements of Harmony.

For lack of a better explanation, I'll just say that Luna isn't back to full strength yet. Her power basically scattered throughout the world and manifesting itself as Dream and Nightmares in the real world

I like to think of it as Celestia's powers holding more bearing on the physical, while Luna's powers hold more bearing in the realms of the ethereal.

Since she has lost control over that power, the dreams and nightmares that were once contained in a pony's mind while they slept roam free without Luna's control over them.

Essentially the barrier between the physical and the ethereal has broken down, giving everyone strange new powers that allow them to bend reality to some extent. Not anything majorly overpowered mind you, just simple things. For example, manifesting weapons with the power of your mind or transforming and warping small objects or a small area around you. This power applies to everyone and not just any race in particular. Unicorns were able to do this normally, but that was based on their innate magical power due to their race. This new power is based in their bodies, as dreams come from the mind and the mind is a physical thing. In otherwords, if a unicorn's magical power is exhausted, they can still use what physical strength they have left to bend and warp reality.

Seriously, the meshing of fact and fantasy in FiM is headache inducing to explain. Twilight described falling stars (or was it comets?) with a degree of real world accurecy as a throw away in that owl episode.

Yet in the pilot, four stars "aid in Nightmare Moon's escape" implying that stores have a sort of will that can enact, or at least some astrological star positioning magic.
