I have no idea who the fuck to reply to on the "Nightmare Moon/Luna" issue, so I'll just throw my two Lincoln-heads in.
In short, yes, I agree that there's no official evidence Luna was possessed by an evil spirit to become Nightmare Moon. Instead, I feel as though she was possessed by her own emotions that embittered her so much she grew three feet taller and donned badass armor and a mane of pure dark energy. That way, it wouldn't stray too far from what Faust OR the official canon said. Luna was a puppet to her own feelings, rather than an evil wizard or a Lovecraftian abomination, and was forced to look from the inside at all the harm she's causing and not able to do a damn thing about it until she was finally vulnerable enough to allow the friendship of her sister back in her heart.
Nyx' fanon is trying too hard to take ideas from the parasitic symbiote plot device. The Nightmare Moon Saga should remain as it is -- kaput, ended, complete, dead, a ship that has already sailed and sank that does not need to be salvaged (unless through flashback development, but I'd much rather keep the focus on the core six characters unless they're the ones who ask Celestia/Luna directly). |
