The kitchen, and basement, and living quarters of the library were covered in strange and smelly goops of various consistencies in every type of container from pots and pans to drinking glasses and winter galoshes.
The sunset was about to begin, but Twilight Sparkle couldn't stop to watch. Fluttershy's birthday party would begin in a few minutes. She trotted as fast as she could without losing her creations.
She opened the door to Fluttershy's house. Spike and her five best friends were standing around a table with wrapped presents and a cake. From the ceiling hung a piñata in the shape of a carrot; Fluttershy wouldn't hit anything resembling a living being.
"I'm here," said Twilight, "I brought them, just like I said."
Behind Twilight, a figure loomed in the doorway. A pale and balding thing, it stood on two legs and wore clothing that might be considered appropriate for its bulky, bloated frame. "Happy birthday, Fluttershy!" it said from a swollen, infected-looking crack in its face beneath its strange pointy snout.
A similar monster, this one tall and skinny with shiny glass circles over its eyes, also entered the room. It repeated the birthday greeting, but its small, beady eyes kept darting over to Rarity.
Two more shuffled in. Awkward silence followed their Happy Birthday's.
The rest were frowning, but Pinkie Pie giggled.
"Twilight, you silly filly, I asked you to make BROWNIES." |
