I discovered the show here actually.
/tg/ was the main board I was lurking at the time I first heard of the show. So much hype was overflowing everywhere that when I got swept up by it I figured I had to give it a shot.
I went and watched the pilot ep. on youtube, then caught up to where the season was at. Watched every episode since and am now presently awaiting S2.

I found out about the show on /co/ a few weeks before it premiered and watched the pilot episode before deeming it too cutesy. After browsing a few of the threads back in February, I decided to see the rest of the episodes back in March and started coming to these threads more often. With the new season a few months away I'm pretty much sticking around because these are the fastest threads on /co/ and they constantly have a lot of new content

I noticed pony avatars popping up on forums I visit late October, at first I had no idea what show they are from because I wasn't browsing 4chan that much around the time but I got more and more intrigued because of the art style so I decided to save some of the avatars and come over here to ask about their origin, of course I didn't have to ask because the first thread was a pony thread.
I was surprised it's My Little Pony because it looked nothing like it, I decided to look for clips of the show on YouTube and I've found the episodes watched them and thought they were really good and now I'm a fan.

Make no mistake, the show itself is wonderful. The MLP /co/ threads however, are not. They used to be, which is why I loved being here all the time. To answer the OP, I was here on /co/ when the first episodes hit. All of a fucking sudden there were several threads every hour about MLP. I didn't get upset, and I checked out the first episode. It was cutesy and fun, and I thought it was just the novelty of liking a little girl show that made it so popular.

Some time passed, I got marginally annoyed by all the pony threads, but then was fine with it once the mod made it a rule to keep it to one thread at all times. After the season ended, I decided to the give the show a fair shake. I watched abou 6 episodes in a row, really liked it, and watched all of season 1 with my girlfriend within a couple of days. Now we're both big fans. She owns a Fluttershy toy and wants to gift me a Rarity, my personal favorite.

That's it. Not a remarkable story. It's a genuinely fun show, and I'm glad /co/ caught on to it like it did (and I'm glad I was right here when it happened).

Idea for a fic I had last night: Notes to Celestia from Underground. A story about what it would have been like if Twilight was unable to make friends, and became withdrawn, bitter, and misanthropic (mis-equestric?). Basically, she's the Underground Man stuck in Ponyville, observing events we've seen (e.g. parasprite invasion, winter wrap-up) from the outside and providing spiteful commentary on them, with the whole thing written in the style of Dostoevsky. Also, some events from Notes from Underground (the prostitute storyline, the dinner party) reinterpreted through ponies.
Does this idea sound kinda cool and interesting, or completely terrible? Should I write it, /co/?

I was up late, er, early... as usual. I can't really sleep when I need to. I saw MLP threads start popping up all over /b/ and I think there were only 16 episodes out at the time? And they had all the youtube links to the episodes so ... I figured why not? I'm bored. I probably won't like it.

And I didn't like it at first. I wasn't going into it thinking "oh its a show for little girls" I just didn't think it would interest me.

I really wanted to understand WHY so many people liked it. So after finishing the first 2 parter and going into the rest of the episodes I started to understand why it was so loved. The animation was great, smooth, enjoyable. The characters were each unique and the voice acting was great. It's a cute show, it just is what it is.

It's for some people and it ain't for some people. Just like everything else.

If you look closely at the above discussion and every other thread mentioning Cupcakes, you'll it's mostly agreed upon that it's poor shock content written in a mediocre style.
