>>28142573 I actually find one of the biggest reasons I don't find her as interesting a character is because she doesn't seem flawed at all. By this point every character's been shown to have flaws, however with hers it never actually seems to matter. She cowers for a little bit but that's almost instantly outdone and forgotten by the end of the same episode. Aside from that it seems like the only flaw she'd have is arrogance, which isn't interesting, and more so annoying because it seems as if it's just accepted by the writers and other characters. Even in the episode where it put her against Applejack, because AJ was matching it equally, it didn't come across as a flaw at all. Contrast that with Rarity's, whose flaws are amusing to the audience, or Twilight's whose flaws create a conflict for well, an entire episode.
As for badass, I see it as more a synthetic or "fake" type of "cool" or awesome. As in you're meant to think the character is simply because they're telling you they are, as opposed to their strengths making them actually interesting or "rad". Like for instance, Pinkie throws parties and is portrayed as, while possibly annoying, just a lot of fun, and through that I think "cool, this is an awesome and fun person." With dash it seems more like she's awesome because someone's telling me she is, instead of her personality/characteristics. |
