07/27/11(Wed)02:04 No.28099684In the year 2458 AD, the environment of Earth was completely decimated. Small scale nuclear war in the Middle East and Africa, combined with constant outpour of pollution from Asia, America, and Europe has left over 95% of the world completely uninhabitable. The remaining countries not at war with each other band together, and flee the Earth, retreating into space.
As they leave, they implement an automated system designed to attempt to restore the environment while they are gone, in the hopes that they will return to a fertile Earth. This system manages a hyper advanced manufacturing facility, capable of building new technology as the system can develop it, all fully automated.
However, in approximately 2750 AD, humanity dies off in space, the zero G environment causing weakened hearts and skeletal problems. The remaining humans on Earth die from radiation and poor atmospheric condition.
The system continues on for approximately 800 more years, and eventually automates the process of manufacture to the point where its input is no longer needed. It turns its computing power to itself, and begins to advance its own technological properties. It eventually partitions its function into two cores, so that one can focus on advancements to itself while the other focuses on advancements to the manufacturing and production wing. |
