Without some sort of conflict characters being introduced into either episode in which they starred, we wouldn't have a haughty personality type to drive the story forward. Without their 'help', the ponies would not have learned a particular lesson. Arguably, you could write the episode differently, but without the essential 'villain' character, I don't think it would have been nearly as much fun.

You may not like them, but they each have their own qualities which attracts a fanbase, albeit a small one.

OK, so what does the MLP general think of this plot for a sadfic: Rainbow Dash dies in a flight accident after winning some prestigious flying competition, but doesn't know that she is dead. Except that she is an immortal sorcerer queen that is powerful enough to move a celestial body. I think she is smart enough to have taken that into consideration. She would probably sustain the ecosystem with magic, it already is pretty much.

Besides, she was running on 1000 years of rage vapors. Even if she had won, and Celestia stayed banished, she probably would have brought out the sun eventually, in a less prominent role. It does have its uses after all. She also seemed to be playing with kids gloves. She just swatted aside the guards that attacked her in ponyville, leaving them rubbing their heads, and she didn't bother confronting Twilight and co. before they had the elements. She could have brought her full force against them as soon as they were into the everfree but didn't. She was right there, too.

I think nightmare was simply well, divinely butthurt. She didn't seem to want to actually hurt anyone, if she did, she could have done it pretty much as soon as she learned they were after the elements. She knew how dangerous they were to her.

You know what grinds my gears? Trixie revenge fics. I've seen a lot of people writing storied where Trixie gets revenge on Twilight in various ways. It's dumb and doesn't make sense. What's she getting revenge for? Saving the town? Showing her up? Twilight didn't show her up, if anything, it was Snips and Snails putting Trixie in a situation where she had to admit she made her stories up.

Trixie saw Twilight accomplish a feat she thought was impossible for one unicorn to accomplish, and writers take this and go "This must mean Trixie hates Twilight's guts and wants to ruin her life forever/kill her/brainwash her and use her as a sex slave!" (delete where appropriate).


How HIGH do you even HAVE to BE to write something like that? That's like me bragging about being able to disarm a nuclear bomb in 5 seconds then some kids go off into the woods and find a nuclear bomb and activate it and bring it to me. Then I confess that I can't actually disarm it and suddenly oh shit the town is going to be vaporised.
