From what little information you were able to gain from the girl you know that it's four legged, larger then a pony, has claws, but apparently no tail.
The strangest part was that, as you were walking, you could have sworn she mentioned it had no eyes, just a sunken area where they should be. It might have been the shock talking, but if true this is something you had never heard of before.
You could try to go hunt for it alone, or you can go to bed and start anew tomorrow
