once, both Human and Equine worked together to rid the land of the Progenitors, those who seeded life in the world, but then were corrupted by their own power. their efforts were headed by the mightiest champions from both races, Wander and Agro. both were despised by their societies, cast out for their boldness, to dare to dream a world where Man and Equine need not live under the yoke of the Progenitors.
but Man fell. Wander fell. corrupted by the black blood of the Progenitors even as he smote them of their life. and so, Agro returned alone, his task done, weary, his great friend, Wander the Warrior, reduced to a shadow of his former self.
Agro was forced to cross-breed with the deer of the Shadowlands, as there were no other horses. this bred a smaller breed of horse, which became slowly known as "Pony". some of them inherited the traits of the Progenitor's black blood: some of them flew, some of them could cast spells; it is even said that some of them could defy the laws of physics entirely.
and though the line of Man, of Wander, continued, it was but a pale spectre. until, one day, in a final, climactic battle, the half-feral descendants of Wander and Mono rose up against the Equines.
many of the Great Hooved Ones were lost in those dark days. Agro himself fell, his neck hewn by the Horned One, a direct son of Wander. but the battle was won, and the Horned One was slain. and from the blood of the Horned One and Agro, that mixed on the ground, there rose two sisters: Celestia and Luna.
