It was sweet but I feel like Fluttershy's inner thoughts in the chase scene were too composed - from what we've seen of Fluttershy, unless she's in 'super friend defense mode', she's usually pretty nervous and panicked.

The dialogue felt natural after the rock-thing showed up though, and it was a nice quick fic.

What would you describe as the "eras" of this fandom thus far?

I'd think it would go something similar to this:

First episode airs -> January Hiatus = Golden Age of Pony. The fandom gets it's start, building momentum. Derpy first discovered and popularized.

January Hiatus -> February bans = Silver Age of Pony. The hiatus created a sudden influx of art, fics and other fan works. EqD is founded. Everyone is happy.

February Bans -> End of season = Bronze Age of Pony. With all the bans that went flying about, the Original Content machine is sputtering and near-dead. HFPS becomes RagingSemi and the entire community begins to turn towards the NSFW as a whole. Ponychan is founded.

Season End -> Second Coming of Mods = Dark Age of Pony. Any worthwhile contributors have long-since fled or no longer post their contributions on /co/. Ponychan becomes a hugbox and a larger power in the fandom, prompting what was left of the /co/mmunity to wrap themselves in cynicism.

Second Coming of Mods -> Present = A Lighter Shade of Grey Age of Ponies. With stricter rules put in against porn and meta, actual discussion has returned to threads and the /co/mmunity has become somewhat productive again.

The reason I've been giving for Pinkie's behavior in that fic is that a lot of the time people will act differently around family than around other people. Going by what I revealed in the fic, Pinkie had a very strict, no-nonsense kind of father (possibly abusive) who wouldn't put up with any of the bubbly stuff. This was something she already knew going in, so there would be no confusion as you described.
