Reason number one: quality. I think this deserves to be addressed first. I started watching this show for the same reasons a lot of people did at first: I wanted to see what all the hype was about, and of course after watching a single episode I ended up watching the entire first season. But do you know what struck me first when I started watching? The quality. How many of us watch modern day cartoons? Twilight would have the most conflict there, seeing as she has been so close to the princess. rainbow Dash would be torn between remaining loyale to her friends or her country. It doesn't help that if she sided with the revolution, she'd have to go up against the Wonderbolts.

Beyond them, I think Cloudsdale would side with Celestia while all of the more frontier locations and cities further from the capital will secede.

If we are counting "fanon" characters, the Doctor would side with the revolution as would Derpy.

The further implications of this are staggering. If Celestia was lying about raising the sun, what about the events that happened 1000 years ago? What else has been covered up, changed or obscured?

Actually, that's kind of funny, how that worked out. Galileo's primary support was clergy, and so were his primary detractors.
