Anatomy of a core cast. Because I believe in each individual main character making up different parts of a cohesive whole ensemble for any TV series, and MLP should be no exception.

Twilight: The Head/The Brain. Perhaps the most obvious, being the organizer as well as the leader in any situation.
Applejack: The Body. The physical strength to keep the motive going.
Fluttershy: The Heart/Soul. The emotional side to our group.
Rainbow Dash: The Spirit. If Applejack is the strength, Rainbow is the driving force and the embodiment of keeping the group moving forward.
Rarity: The Senses. Tactile and a lady of vision, apparently she has a keen attention to detail that is unmatched.
Pinkie Pie: The Sixth Sense (of Humor). Because of her keen sense of intuition, and she seems to have savant-like intelligence and awareness, or at least at times when she's not being comic relief.

I remember that Lauren said season 2 would try to follow some kind of arc, season one couldn't because of the random times the show had to air, so everything HAD to be inconsistent.

Cloudsdale is a Pegasus city, built entirely of clouds.

The most common architecture is Earth Pony, whose theme is "antiquated building". We have seen it in 3 towns so far. I am guessing Earth Ponies are just the most common of the 3 types.

When the sun sets, it does not go out, so its avatar is free to roam around and do whatever it likes.
