I keep telling people to give this art thing a shot because I really am not that talented or clever, and I always thought this would be something I'd just never be any good at. Nothing is impossible if you put the legwork in. Talent is actually simply proficiency you picked up early, whether it be genetic inclination or just practicing when you were young and didn't realize.

That being said, it's all about priorities. Unless you legitimately want to, and love doing it, there's little point. Yiu'll beat yourself over getting better, and unless you love just drawing something beautiful, or even just drawing anything at all and expressing that, it won't be a good pain. Plus, if you don't love it, you'll probably drop it quick, nobody here has so much self discipline

good short story writing, according to some guy:

Keep in midn the pace of the reading. A fast scene should take less space on a page than a slow scene, even if more is happening. If something happens quickly, don't describe it, keep it short, so it catches the reader by surprise and pops out. Also never use "Suddenly". If something happens suddenly, the word itself and accompanying comma get in the way of the action.

"and that's when his face met with a fist."
is a lot better than
"Suddenly, out of nowhere, Khazakstaniki leaped at Cantbefucked delivering a bone-crushing right hook. He was caught totally off guard."

You can see that the second one is just terrible in every way despite having a lot more detail.

I'd HIGHLY recommend at least downloading paint.net from http://www.getpaint.net . It's free, just as simple as paint, and has a LOT more features, like layering. It doesn't have tablet support though (neither does MS Paint), you need to get gimp, photoshop, or sai for that.
