We started up the hill to the seating area with the fallen tree. There was no more markings, but we'd mostly forgot about them by then, so we didn't notice at that time.
Soon, we arrived at this huge fallen tree, it must have been hundreds of years old, but only the stump remained, just enough to seat, maybe, 4 people. We sat down, and talked for a short while, regaining our energy.
After about twenty minutes we decided to go, I said I had to do a piss first, so I went behind the stump.
I relieved myself, and zipped up. As I turned around to go back to George, I saw a marking on the tree behind where I had been standing. It was the same, a circle with an X through it. I thought it was odd it should be this far out. I told george about it, and he told me there was one on a tree just a bit away from us. Looking around, we saw there was exactly 5. 4 on trees in a square around one tree in the centre of this square.
On this centremost tree, we found a coat thrown over a branch, it had gaping rips in it, and smelled awful.
We we're quite creeped out by this, so we decided to leave. I was walking by the tree to leave, when I tripped over some leaves underneath it. When I kicked the leaves away, I found a pair of very new looking white shoes with the laces done up just at the foot of the tree. They looked like they had been arranged. They also seemed to smell.
As we walked away, back to his farm, we noticed the marks were on other trees, in a line, just like the trail, leading deeper into the wood. We didnt investigate. |
