To be fair, I find that more indicative of a horror game than the Luna series.

Whereas Luna is intended to be little more than an analogue to the "screamer" videos that went viral, The Story of the Blanks, for what it lacks in length and complexity, makes up for it with more semblance of story and purpose. The "cursed village in Everfree" wasn't a bad route to go, and if it wouldn't scare the shit out of the kiddies watching it would be relatively passable as an actual story for the show (Apple Bloom discovering something she wasn't supposed to, coming across intimidating figures who wanted her to be a "blank flank forever" but persevering through it -- too bad she's too busy being an idiot with the CMC for something like this to actually happen in the show).

I'd say there's little jokes left in there for people not 7 year old girl. I.E. the "'spike' d punch" pun in "Owl's well that ends well", or, *cough* impotence/flacidity joke of twilight's horn in "Bridle Gossip" [see pic]. They wouldn't get that, it would go right over there heads, like some of the stuff used to in animaniacs. Those are clearly meant for older audiences.

I think they're starting to recognize bronies as a fanbase. They can't make it official, but they can hide little things like that in there for us.

but of course this is speculation.
