"Does it hurt, Dashie?" asked Pinkie Pie, tears welling up in her big, blue eyes.
Duchess Rainbow Dash, whose left hind leg was quickly swelling, shuddered as chills washed over her body. She was determined not to cry in front of her life's love. "Of course not, Pinkie Pie."
"Oh. That's a relief," said Pinkie, but it was easy to see she was just playing along.
Scootaloo glared at the giant wasp. "Bastard! You will not survive this day." Hurling her teenaged body at the wasp, she fluttered and twisted in the air to avoid the beast's stinger. Instead, in a single move, she grasped it as it lanced out, and pulled it up and into the eye of the monster.
The wasp hissed a loud scream. As it jerked its stinger free, a pulpy chunk came free; it was blinded on one side.
Scootaloo leaped from the creature's belly with a mighty hindleg kick that punched through its chitin armor. She soared back to the cliff as the thing fell into the river far below.
Applebloom already had her medical kit out. "I'm sorry duchess, that leg will have to come off. Sweetie Belle? I need a tourniquet."
Sweetie concentrated, and Rainbow howled in pain as an invisible cord drew around her leg. "Magnificent," muttered Applebloom, as she pulled out the bone saw. |
