>>27465876 She is still Pinkamena at this point. The only thing that is changed is that she has an inspiration. She then decides to throw a party for her family to make them happy.
When her parents arrive they are shocked by the party. Pinkie then gets sad that they don’t like it, but then they enjoy it and everything is perfect, right? Well, I think it didn’t go as well as we thought. In fact neither does Pinkie Pie. Don’t you find it weird that even though Pinkie Pie knows everyone in Ponyville and seems to have really strong bonds, she doesn’t seem to have that connection with her family? It’s because the party went terribly wrong. Her family hated it, so much so that they did something that traumatized her and then disowned her. What we saw was what she thought happened to cope with the trauma. She thinks to herself that she doesn’t have the time to visit her family with all the parties and friends, but subconsciously she knows she can’t. And if she could, she never would. This is where the split happens, Pinkamena becomes her scared little child; filled with doubt, anger, self-loathing and insecurity. Pinkie Pie is her escape; she has fun, is loved and doesn’t care what people think (why she is so random). Pinkie Pie is the opposite of her old life, and since her old life was filled with misery she would rather live the lie, metaphorically speaking. |
