But on to other stuff, I do think the ratings on Eq D are generally higher than many a fic deserves. I think when a fic is bad, those who don't like it stop reading and don't bother to rate. But you can still weed a lot of fics out based on the ratings anyways. Better work still get talked about more and generally have higher ratings.

Excluding times when the subject matter prompts people to vote low. I read the first chapter of Addrun Lleund or whatever it was called. Based on admittedly just the first chapter, I think it deserves a lot higher than 4.5 stars, but it is all about a human in equestria and has a shipping warning so that affected the ratings.

Giving a story a bad rating actually seems to help it more than hurt it. A lot of people judge stories based on the amount of ratings. Going in and personally saying how bad the story sucks is the better way to go about it.

The blogger program he uses had some sort of botch when it updated. The comments were fine, but the ratings got wiped out. So, I think Paradise was up to like 150something, then dropped to just above 80. Ponies Discover /co/ dropped to 35 ratings. Releasing a new chapter and politely asking for a rerate seems to have fixed that.

I did actually have an recent influx of new readers for Ponies Discover /Co/. At least about 30 came from (I think) TVtropes. They hung out in Googledocs, but neither rated or left a comment. I'd have never known they were there except for a random stroke of luck when some asked if the pictures broke. I'd have assumed PDC was still just kind of done, otherwise and never new the fresh batch of eyes that fell on it.
