Why had Celestia allowed this?
Rarity found herself obsessing over that question for days at a time, as she worked, as the refugees left and rebuilt, as life returned to "normal."
Finally, the imperative of the contradiction drove her to take measures she never thought possible. She hired a chariot to Canterlot, and made an appointment to see the Princess. It cost her a month's gross reciepts, half a year's profits, but she needed this.
She was granted an audience on Summer Sun Eve.
The stately palace, the immaculate hallways, the masterworks of art on the walls, every bit of it was as glorious as she had glimpsed at the Gala or dreamed of her entire life. But it just wasn't enough anymore.
Her hoofsteps echoed off the walls as she walked to the throne room. The guards looked at her, the secretary waved her in.
The doors opened.
There, regal beyond description, sat Princess Celestia on her throne. The crimson carpet stretched up the ramp. The famed Waters Of Joy fountain beneath her throne provided a pleasing burbling noise. The elite guards stood at either side, one's eyes constantly scanning the room, the other's staring straight at Rarity. |
