ultimately, thats asking; 'what does it mean to be a good person'
i dont think anyone wants to devolve into philosophical ranting so ill try to keep it shorthanded.
being a good fan means being able to have fun, in all its permutations.
now, that may seem obvious, but consider, if theres anything ive learned from my time in traditional games, its that imagination and a little brain power can mean taking even the slightest hints and deriving inspiration from them.
there is so much out there to learn, and so much to experience, somtimes im glad i probably wont ever be able to grasp it all, since it means there will always be somthing new for me to think about.
there is an anti-thesis to this, however, not all forms of fun are created equal, there are things that one may enjoy that can come at the expense of others, as opposed to facilitating a mutual wonderment. or desires that arise due to ones own deficiencies.
a desire for attention, turning conversations banal. defensiveness, low self esteem, engendering hostility and pointless conflict (whether in people or aspects of a work). myopia, lack of creativity or imagination, inability to ken or appreciate subtle nuances or grandious details of a given element, beit a setting or set peice, the focus on one aspect of a work to the exclusion of others (usualy smut). it is not wrong to love smut (i should hope anyway, since i love it too), but know how much more there can be aswell, or even how much greater a whole can be done in concert. |
