Quickfic - A Sewing Session (1/2)
06/28/11(Tue)18:12 No.27242120It was a glorious autumn day above the clouds. Rainbow Dash soared with her eyes half shut, feeling the breeze between her primaries and grooving on it.
It was a dark and stormy afternoon in Ponyville. Most of the town was indoors, though a few ponies braved the light showers to get where they were going. Raindancer, Rainy Days, and Dorothea Rainheart were in the town square, discussing how they got their cutie marks. The shopkeepers were open for business, but few were anticipating many sales.
Rarity the unicorn was using the time to fill back-orders. She had a hem job due the following morning, alterations to a prêt-à-porter formal gown for the Mayor's banquet in three days, and three identical jumpers for triplet pegasi colts (how rare!) due later in the week.
She hummed as she sewed the hem to match the measurements she had taken. The work soothed her when she had extra time; she could ensure every piece of fabric would accentuate each client properly and beautifully.
A cat yowled upstairs. Rarity sighed.
Opalescence raced down the stairs, leaped toward the work table, and would have shredded the dress, if Rarity hadn't levitated her into the air. The cat struggled mightily.
Sweetie Belle came downstairs. "Hey Sis, have you seen Opal?"
Rarity looked at the hissing creature. The poor thing had ribbons on her paws, ribbons on her tail, and a ribbon on one ear. "Sweetie Belle, you've got to leave this cat alone. Now scat. I've got work."
Carefully, Sweetie Belle took control of the levitation, and hovered the cat back upstairs. |
