I don't think it's "hate" as much as it is "indifference", or "just don't give a fuck about". Take Trixie for example. Lots of people hate her. That is, like most antagonists, the intention of her design. You aren't suppose to take a liking to her, unlike the extremely easy to love Pinkie Pie, or Fluttershy. Trixie is snooty, pompous, arrogant, and she wrecks and humiliates much of the main cast. The only main pony that did not have any beef with her at all and actually wondered what everybody's problem was regarding Trixie, was Twilight herself. However, Trixie has enough going for her that even as a one shot character, she's got an amazing amount of fan created content.

A.J on the other hand, isn't hated. People just don't think much of her because compared to other ponies in the show, her personality and way of going about things is very mundane and Plain Jane. Even Fluttershy now has a streak in her that made everybody just go "WHOA!", when in previous episodes, she was rather boring. A.J has no such moments in the show, aside from comical relief and slapstick humor. It's very unfortunate.

A long time ago, somebody asked for a humanized Twilight x Zecora story, it's still on my list.

Anyway, I was thinking about how to do the plot while lying in bed that night. I had this weird dream where, after Twilight leaves Zecora's home, a pissed off, jealous Princess Celestia shows up. (I wrote another non-fapfic story a long time ago where Zecora was a princess in exile from her home country, and hiding in Equestria under Celestia's nose).

Anyway, Celestia and Zecora end up getting in an epic, break down knock out magic fight, Dragonball Z style. Celestia being evil, Vegeta like, and Zecora being a vaguely Goku humble character whom Celestia completely underestimates. Zecora ends up losing and fleeing, but not without giving Celestia a run for her money.

Thought about writing it, but it wouldn't really translate well to a fic.
