that may seem harsh, but consider; when one cannot concieve of the broader depth and implications of a character or the world inwhich it acts, the simplest means of giving it distinction, is visual attributes. now ive already said there is nothing nessisarily wrong with that, but it is also indicative of certain traits. the fandom that arose is a function of these underlying threads, it provided a place for these ones to not only share interests, but to serve as a hugbox for their woes, and also serve to provide that element of escapism, the repression of woe. you might say the whole business reached critical mass, a vicious circle of denial and obtrusion, reinforcing existing traits to greater levels.
now, one can call me a hypocrite in light of all the things ive done in the past, at the expense of folks like these and others like them, but consider; for one, being a hypocrite in itself does not make a point any less true, and for another, as already mentioned, their interests were really secondary to the fact that they were degenerate faggorts.
i can say right now that this is nothing compared to the furry spam around 07-08, where the 'people' were not only stupid, but everywhere aswell, at the very least mlp fans here stay in one thread. so while i cannot speak for the likes of ponychan or elsewhere, in /co/ atleast, i do not see a big problem. |
