06/23/11(Thu)07:31 No.27086093>>27085986 Ahhh, thats... I'm not sure how to word myself, haha. I don't think it's more difficult, myself, but maybe that it requires more intuition or knowledge? (Or like SB: sheer determination.)
I think everyone who paints digitally has their own process. Something that's just more comfortable for any one person.
When I paint, I sometimes same the sketch layer, but almost never refer back to it. If I keep it, then it's just a hidden layer underneath my working layer. I grab a big messy brush and kind of redefine my big shapes and use it to lay out immediate shadows, lay down washy flat basic, and then just get to work. If something looks awkward to me, then I scribble it out with the background colour and redo it. If I'm about to make a change that I'm not sure I'll like, sometimes I duplicate the layer and work on the top layer. If it doesn't work out, I delete it and go back to the original.
With brushes I... I make mine up as I do. I have a couple of brushes that I prefer when laying in the colours originally, but really, the standard photoshop brush is used often as not. If I want a texture and I'm not getting it, I just mess around with making a new brush until I'm happy. I find other people's brushes are usually something I want to tweak anyway. |
