06/19/11(Sun)06:33 No.26969601She's an interesting character for three reasons. First off, her backstory is wide open to interpretation. What made he decide to rebel? Faust has said there was some sort of power that did. What is this power? Where did it come from? Why did it chose her?
Then, there's her basic theme. Ever since the post-renaissance era, people have gravitated towards the thematically dark, the mysterious, and the unknown. Before the renaissance, such activity was seen as evil or heretical, and natural human individualism made rebelling against this idea appealing. As a dark counterpart to Celestia, she interests this dark part of our minds.
Third is the fact that her story allows her to assume the role of the tragic hero, the redeemer, and the child all at once. People seek to comfort her for her perceived guilt, her sadness, and whatever drove her to do what she did. |
