Dash and AJ seem very comfortably competitive with each other, so they clearly know each other fairly well. Rarity and Fluttershy must have been friends for a long time, I don't see fluttershy having weekly spa sessions with a new friend. Or, really, making many new friends at all.

Dash didn't know a lot about Pinkie, which implies they're fairly new friends, though as pinkie is pinkie old acquaintances.

All of them are fairly important around town - applejack runs the farm, they must get most of their food from there, dash runs the weather team and is... not a low profile pony, pinkie is pinkie, rarity seems to be the only designer in town, fluttershy would be known for being shy, even if she didn't seem to manage the animals around town.
