"Why do y'all keep makin' me put on these silly dresses?" Applejack's muffled voice sounded the the crimson fabric that draped over her body. "Y'all know I can't stand none o' this frilly froo froo nonsense."

"I've been working on this dress for weeks and I need to know how it moves and feels on an actual pony," Rarity paced as she explained. "I needed to use a bit of my excess candy apple fabric and you came to mind while I was making it."

"That's mighty kind of you, Rarity," Applejack poked her head out of the dress with an apologetic expression. "I just wish that somepony else had come to mind."

Applejack's words pained Rarity to the point where she winced. A lot of time and effort had been put into what Applejack was wearing. Every stitch, every seam, every cut, and every measurement was compiled with Rarity's thoughts clouded by the orange earth pony before her. Rarity had forgotten how many prototypes she'd shredded before arriving at the current product. Her ivory coat and violet mane were displaced from lack of sleep. She tried to focus on what little appreciation Applejack had given her work, however, and that brought a smile to her weary face.

"How does it feel?" Rarity began to pelt her with questions. "Is it comfortable? Do you think it's too frilly?"

Applejack's eyes narrowed as she became more annoyed.

"It's a dress, Rarity," Applejack reminded her. "I already told you I don't like dresses."

"I know, Applejack," Rarity pleaded, "but please try your best to cooperate. This is very important to me."

Applejack sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Oh, alright," she said defeated.

There was an elegant flow to the dress as it hugged against Applejack's body, something Rarity thought was impossible for someone of her physique. One of her desires for the dress was that it would be simple and freeing. Rarity knew Applejack would have preferred it to be less formal and more business, but it was designed to make sure she enjoyed wearing it. Despite how tight the fabric was pressed to the form, it was suppose to give you a feeling of being unrestrained and relaxed.

"Are you sure I'm wearing this thing right?" Applejack glanced over the dress. "I don't even feel it on me."

"You're not supposed to, darling," Rarity was pleased by her response.

Thin straps made the upper half of the dress, starting at the back of her neck and then crossing over each other against Applejack's chest. They trailed down beneath her forelegs and curved up to the lower half of her back. Connected to the straps was a single strip of fabric that covered beneath were the saddle would be set. It extended from Applejack's neck and formed an hourglass shape, thinning across the center of her spine and expanding over her flanks.

"Is it supposed to be short on one side?" Applejack began to feel more embarrassed the longer she wore the outfit.

"Yes," Rarity's eyes gleamed with delight. "It looks absolutely glamorous."

"Well, I sure don't feel glamorous," Applejack huffed.

Rarity's heart pounded within her chest as she trotted closer to face Applejack, her hoof tracing along the edges of the fabric. On any other day, Applejack appeared to be so brutish that Rarity tolerated her out of their close friendship. As she wore that dress, however, she had gone from brutish to enticing, and the barriers of friendship over Rarity's heart began to crumble.

"Yeah," Applejack had paused before she answered, startled to feel such abrupt contact. "What are you doing?"

As far as what you're saying, you're just plain wrong. You probably have an incorrect assumption of what music theory is. Here are the things it is not:

1. A system of rules that must be followed.
2. A certain format that all music must subscribe to.
3. A soulless visible format.

Music theory is to music what physics are to ballet. It is simply a way of understanding why certain things sound the way they do. It makes learning music easier, it makes writing music easier, and it makes nearly everything to do with music that isn't the actual technical performance of it easier.

Also, learning theory does not mean a person cannot write or learn music by ear. I still do a lot of that. It's just that the music I write utilizing theory is much easier to write, sounds better, and is more satisfying to do.

A person can tell a great story without knowing how to read, (folk tales) but saying that learning to read is somehow an impedence is just ridiculous.
