BonBon goes away on a trip (family and bakery festivel) while Lyra has to stay to lead a band concert of sorts of the school. Before BonBon leaves, she and Lyra commission Rarity to make custom-made pillows for eachother. A freak accident caused by Twilight getting distracted does something to the pillows, but the effects are not obvious at first.

After BonBon leaves, Lyra slowly begins to miss her and starts affecting her life. One night, however, when both ponies hug their partner's pillow really tight, the magic from Twilight makes it so the two are in eachother's embraces and have sexy-time together.

Things go great for the two at first, but Lyra soon begins to miss having the real BonBon with her, and the stress of teachings the foals music for the band concert begins to have a toll on her. Ultimately, she no longer is able to spend her time with BonBon and things look real grim for Lyra, when BonBon finally returns, wanting the real Lyra too and all is good for the two... just in time for an epic-awesome performance of the school band, led by Sweetie Belle.

I think there just haven't been any which caught out eye. Lyra and Bon Bon are easy to ship. Derpy and Whooves have been a concentrated fan effort. Celestia is never really explained outside of being perfect, and Luna just fell off the map. Other than that you have Vinyl Scratch. Octavia gets fan art, but no personality.

There haven't been many interesting male background ponies. At least, not that I've seen.

Now here are the thing we know about dragons.
They are extremely territorial, as seen in the owl episode attacking a baby of they’re own species for eating a few gems, witch may be the reason they didn’t took Spike in Dragonshy.
The are not native to Equestria, as AJ said in Dragonshy. (Through it doesn’t explain the dragon in the everfree forest. Still it is the Everfree forest and maybe it isn’t part of Equestria)
They can eat almost anything, but prefer gems, eating them with ease witch would mean that their teeth and maxillary muscles extreamly powerful but also the teeth are very sharp and durable.
They are long lived since Spike is still considered a baby dragon even though he was hatched by Twilight when she was a filly. Their true lifespan is debatable. In dragonshy the dragon’s nap would have covered Equestria in smoke for 100 years. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean that he would have slept that much as the smoke would have remained even after he stopped snoring. The pegasii may have been capable of removing the smoke but after a few days of snoring it may have become impossible.
Also in episode 20 it’s revealed that their scales offer great protection.
They seem to have the classical fire breathing, but Spike also has a magical teleporting version, and can switch between them.
We don’t know if the dragons we have seen so far are the same species as Spike since there are some differences, mainly wings. Spike is still a baby in dragon terms so we don’t know if his wings would grow later in life.

Now the next part is more speculative.
We don’t know the relationship between dragons and ponies. Hell we don’t even know if the dragons are organized. But one must wonder how can the ponies have access to dragon eggs and also risk their livers by putting untrained fillies to hatch them.
An explanation could be that they take orphans. We have seen that dragons are wiling to kill a baby of their own species just because it ate some gems so caring for someone's young isn’t something a dragon would do.

There are three answers for this

1) Dragons have been known to possess spell-like abilities (/tg/ all up in this bitch!) and Spike could be using one of these, focused through his fire breath, to emulate a teleport spell. This answer is otherwise known as "It's Magic, I ain't Gotta Explain Shit!"
2) Spike is a different species of Dragon from the ones seen in Dragonshy and Owl's Well. A "Magic" Dragon, or some other such classification, could explain his ability to teleport messages with a flame breath. Such abilities would make his species prized as messengers and assistants for Ponies, explaining why they hatch such eggs.
3) Spike is a Dragon that has undergone alchemic modification to allow his breath to link back to Canterlot. He probably has other special modifications that make him a good assistant, perhaps even behavior modification. I call this one the "Mad Scientist" answer.
