Also, some science for you motherfuckers:
What the body NEEDS is nutrients. This is source independent. I don't NEED to eat meat, but I don't really NEED to eat vegetables either, all I NEED to do is make sure I get the proper combination of nutrients.
We humans have evolved to eat both. In fact, the human body is remarkable for the vast number of items it can ingest, which often far supersedes that of other creatures. In fact, our bodies are designed for us to put almost anything into our mouths; We have a gag reflex, that other animals don't have. If we put in something bad for us, we can vomit it back out.
Primarily, though, we eat meats and veggies. And our bodies are designed for exactly that.
You *can* go veggie, you don't *need* meat. But, meat is an easy source for nutrients that are otherwise difficult to get out of a straight vegan diet. Any vegan who hasn't done an extensive amount of research is probably hurting themselves, because you have to be really particular about what you put into your body to make up for the absence of meat. Thankfully, we humans are smart enough to work that out, so that it becomes a viable option.
But in my opinion, it's a waste of time. Eating meat is simply easier, you don't have to meticulously plan out your diet, and that saves time and energy that you can direct towards more useful endeavors. Although I imagine nowadays there are some questionably flavored products that do that work for you.
