>>26463559 I'd like to think a pony fighter would work like a mix between Jojo's and Guilty Gear. Lot's of crazy, over-the-top moves and gimmicks mixed in with fast-paced combos and air dashes. Since most of the characters are rather small (With varients, Spike being the smallest and Celestia being the biggest) it would be nice to have a large stage with plenty of air room to get around in.
As for buttons, it's probably best for the game to take a four button layout. Light Attack, Medium Attack, Strong Attack, and a "Special" button. Those who played GG/BB/JJBA know what this does - Every character sort of has a gimmick going on with their own mechanic tied to that button.
For instance, let's look at Twilight.
Light attacks - Simple poke with her horn standing, Jab with her hoof while crouching, or swing of her hoof while jumping.
Medium attacks - Longer-range swing of the horn while standing. Sweep with her horn while crouching, same for jumping.
Heavy attacks - Buck of her hind legs while standing. Lower buck while crouching, headbutt while jumping.
Special attacks - Pressing the button activates her magic. While her magic is active, it feeds off of her special meter (Gained from taking/Recieving damage) her attacks gain a bit of a bonus and she has access to special magic based abilities. Quarter-circles allow simple projectiles, while dragon-punch motions allow for rising attacks or teleports.
No other character would use Twilights magic system (though they might use their own, different magic abilities), every character would have their own little talent or gimmick.
I'm putting way too much thought into this. |
