Personally, when I'm a fan of something intended primarily for a demographic other than myself, while I enjoy having a line of communication with the creators, I prefer to have my fanon insulated entirely from the show proper. Pandering is derailment; it means that a creator is doing something because the fans will recognize it, instead of because it fits their artistic goals. A promo like this is on the border; I'm okay with it, but it's the limit that I'm comfortable with. Adding walleyes to Derpy in those later episodes didn't sit right with me, and I can only hope that the enthusiasm of the production team over our fan following won't lead to more significant distortions in the future.

But that's out of our hands, I guess.
