Derpy/Ditzy getting a five minute appearance, in which it's revealed that her eyes come from daydreaming a lot, that they become normal when she shakes her head and that she is indeed one of the ponies responcible for the mail.

Her subplot should be that Spike has become sick and Twilight tries all kind of magic to fix it and some home brew tips from her friends (all aimed at ponies though). However at the beginning of the episode she reluctantly, gives Ditzy a special letter to be delivered to Celestia asap. She tried asking Dash, but she told her that she is not good for long range flights and Ditzy is actualy the one with the most stamina who could do the flight the fastest (by not sleeping or more accurately sleeping while being awake).

By the end of the episode Twilight finaly get's an answer teleported to her together with a book about dragon sicknesses, so she can make a cure.

When we see Celestia writing her answer, we see a typicaly wall eyed and smiling looking Ditzy standing in the throne room, having bits of burned mane, twigs between her wings and dirt on her hooves.

Honestly, I like the idea of the recognizable background characters having their own voices and personalities Simpsons-style like an Anon said above. It's cohesive. So how long before Twilight PSA's start showing up in local libraries?

A friend of mine really likes MLP and actually kept trying to make me watch it. Yesterday, I caved and watched just one episode. And then I watched another, til' I ended up watching the whole goddamn series. and now I'm torn.

It's actually a delightful show, and yet every instinct in my body is actually pleading with me not to fess up and admit that It's really nice.

Well, for me it's the idea that since she IS a total cunt, Rainbow Dash was probably the only friend she's ever had in her entire life.

People are possessive. And when you don't have much, you cling to it desperately. Gilda was trying to hold onto Dash and push away anything that might come between them, and in doing so lost the only thing she seemed to care about. It's a sad story, really.

I'd really like to see some sort of reconciliation between Gilda and Dash.

Applejack should have an episode where she suddenly develops a magical power. It freaks her out at first, but then she grows to use it all the time to the irritation of the others until a situation comes up where it's useless no matter how she tries and she has to use her normal skills to save the day.

The moral is that Applejack is the worst pony and cannot into good plots.

The two laugh and end up having a fun day or something like that....Just a thought..I mean I think an episode like that would be perfect for Applejack and would have her way more in depth character wise.

What I like about the Applejack/Rarity dynamic is how close in character they are to each other. They are both outwardly mature ponies with keen work ethics and little sisters to look out for, differing mainly in their class upbringing. Rarity's more indulgent and Applejack's more smotherly, but they're not all that different at heart.

Form and function aren't always opposed. It just depends on what the plot wants. Stranded on a desert island, you'll see AJ put up some shelter, while Rarity will look bad trying to nicen it up. Given more time, AJ will look bad if she sticks to the twig houseing instead of making a better abode, making Rarity look good. Having them put aside their differences, allowing some character growth, they can get work done.
