This show has helped me express feelings outside the scope of what's considered normal heterodox for western men. A show about girls and/or ponies expressing earnest friendship for one another and learning and caring, well, that's not really a male space.

OP of that post here. I'm not trolling. MLP:FiM actually helped me realize I was gay when I started getting to know a fellow brony and my ex-girlfriend kept hassling me for watching the show. Spending time with him and laughing over the characters and the skits and some of the really shitty fanfic, well ... I realized the crushes I'd had on other guys back in high school weren't just a fling. I really like-like the guy.

I'm not super-crushing on that brony or anything, but it opened up a lot of doors. I'm comfortable with who and what I'm really attracted to and much less about what's "straight."
