The only real reason there's a stigma on fanfiction is because 99% of it is done by CRIMINALLY SHITTY WRITERS WHO SHOULD BE SHOT. And then, almost all of it seems to be about pairings and OCs and other vicarious crap nobody but the author wants to read.

I had my heart rate drop due to exertion once and ended up blacking out. Like I felt it slowing down to less than 1 beat pers second and becoming so faint I almost thought it had stopped. Essentially, the fanfic verse in it's entire (arguably all of humanity in entire) is writing without the weeding out of a publisher. Your right the point of staying up is more so that others can examine you. But the problem with those self examination things is that if your head is knocked up they are meaningless, give false negatives, and overall just clouds the issue.

The simple tests are bests when playing safe. If you have JUST a headache take does fade over time, your head is ok. If you got other things going on like spinning, partial temporary black outs or otherwise wouldn't consider yourself ok, then stay up and see if that fades.

Losing a few winks for one night due to something like is much better then the potential harm, even if the chance is minor.

That's Madmax's OC. Ponysona. Given that she's in some of her comics, a self-insert. She's better designed then even some of the canon background ponies on the show. Never deal in absolutes. Madmax did it just right. And as far as self-insertion in fiction, all good writers write what they know about. There are parts of the author in every good story. And direct self-insertion? Perfectly acceptable literary device. Dante, Stephen King, Mark Twain, Hunter Thompson, and Charles Dickens, just to name a few off the top of my head, all used self-insertion.

My biggest problems with it are trying to divorce myself from the proportions of real-life horses. I used to draw animals a lot. That, and the fact that any pose that a normal horse can't do ends up being really hard to make.
