Granny finally dies of old age, quietly and peacefully after saying farewell to her family and asking them to not feel sad, because she had a long and happy life and can leave this world without any regrets.
The entire Apple clan is reunited at Sweet Apple Acres to say goodbye to the old matriarch, Twilight and friends can't find anything to say to Applejack and Applebloom, who are completely devastated. Big Macintosh and Pinkie Pie manages to smile and try to confort them, claiming that they already knows what happens when an Earth Pony returns to the dust. Before they could ask them what do they mean, Granny's wake is over and she's carried to the place she chose for her eternal rest: an horribly desolated creek, completely devoid of life.
Celestia and Luna asists to Granny's burial, where the Goddess pays their respects to the old mare and then sing a beautiful, yet sad funerary song to help Granny on her journey to the other side.
At the peak of their song, everyone get to see for a couple of seconds how Granny Smith's soul leaves her coffin, smiling and looking exactly as she was on her prime, then with some cristaline laughters, she rides on some sunbeams and dissapears into the sky.
The Goddess slowly finish their song, just in the moment when Granny's old body dissapears on a wave of green, causing ripples that make plants and grass grow quickly, leaving the desolate creek covered with beautiful and healthy plants, trees and flowers, much for Twilight, Applejack and Applebloom's awe.
Big Macintosh and Pinkie Pie explain to their friends that this is the final gift that an Earth Pony gives to the land when it's time on this world is over and because of that, Granny Smith will never truly die, or will be forgotten at all. |
