05/08/11(Sun)18:51 No.25761431So, is Zecora really a "magical negro," or is she a subversion of the trope. A lot of people argue that even though its a generally "positive," portrayal, the magical negro is still racist in its own way.
However, Zecora only SEEMS to be mystical and divine in her wisdom. She actually gets her knowledge from books and experiance, and there are explicitly mundane explanations for all her mysterious aspects.
And yet, she still manages to provide the resolution for the episode's problem and teach the Aryan main cast a valuable lesson using her "strange and exotic," skill and knowledge.
