Trixie, like Pinkie, is a manfestation of a repressed portion of Twilight's psyche. Where Pinkie represents the wild, unrestricted, sociable party girl that Twilight never allowed herself to become through shunning friends and pursuing her studies, Trixie represents her inner boastful nature. The entire episode represents Twilight's efforts to purge herself of these desires, culminating in her running her figment out of town altogether.
Incidentally the fact that they are both psychotic delusions is why you never see Trixie and Pinkie together until near the end of the episode. Twilight's mind can only juggle two personas at a time. When Pinkie started appearing in the backgorund, it was because Trixie was about to be expunged and she was ready to move in.
Now imagine if Twilight's normal personality were the one that was eliminated.
And yes, this is all just some delightful-sounding bullshit. But it was fun to make up. |
