Would if I could, bro. Would if I could.
------------
The banging on the library door was loud and insistent. Twilight Sparkle moaned and turned over, then woke fully. Sighing, she hollered, "I'm coming!" The banging stopped.
She lit her horn-light and went downstairs. At the front door, lit from behind by the half-moon, was Applejack. "Twi', Breeze had trouble foalin'. Ya' gotta come an' help. Bring a book a' medical spells."
Packing her saddlebag with the two texts she had studied least, Twilight galloped after Applejack.
As she neared the bedroom above the post office, she heard a pony crying. The sound tore at her heart.
There was a grey-purple unicorn foal standing in the middle of the room, her head turning from side to side. Her mother, Summer Breeze the grey pegasus, was crying as she licked her clean. The nurse was standing, helpless, at one side.
Twilight got closer, and with a gasp realized that the foal's eyes were a milky white. She couldn't see anything.
Twilight closed her own eyes. "Please, Sire, let this work." Then she concentrated.
The foal's eyes cleared, and she looked around and saw her mother. She broke into a big grin and neighed.
"It's a miracle," cried Summer, and turned to Twilight. One eye drooped. "Oh, thank you, thank you!"
Twilight smiled weakly. "Thank the Sire, He provided the strength."
Summer's odd gaze took on a questioning aspect. "The Sire?"
"Applejack can tell you all about Him. For now," said Twilight, "Just know that His daughters rule Equestria." |
