I think Pinkie, both thinks too much (let me explain) and notice too much.

Basicly whenever she notices something and apperently she can notice a lot of details, her mind compensates the many informations by knitting them together into silly ideas and stories. So instead of just getting the simply answer to what she notices she get's a complicated one which however cleans up all details.

But this was exactly what backfired in this episode when every clue she got, pointed more towards a very simply answer, but instead of figuring that out, she figured out something more complicated and settled with it.

You really have to go out of your way to shit all over Pinkie Pie to get her upset. Remember in Feeling Pinkie Keen when Twilight kept unloading all those stiff jabs into her? Snide remark after snide remark, back to back. Just when you thought Pinkie was about to go off on Twilight, she'd just smile and happily bounce away.

In Gilda's episode, it wasn't really until Twilight accused Pinkie of being jealous did she start getting grumpy. She never really did anything with it until Fluttershy started crying, but Pinkie didn't lose her cool.

Only when Pinkie thought her friends just didn't give a shit about her parties anymore and were outright lying in her face, even when she was calling them out on it and they still kept lying, did she start breaking down enough to make a Rocky Balboa friend.

Well, we have two Pinkies personalities: before SR and after. When something incredible bad happens, the second personality hides deep in PP's mind to avoid being shattered/destroyed by those events and her "emo" -- or, more likely, "no_fun_allowed_only_rock_duty" -- appears as a reaction to such events. This one can easily absorb all those bad things, multiply them and express/return back in to the world.

In latest ep we saw her making friend with rocks, part of her life she did wan to leave behind. Imagine what could do with her the death of all her friends.

I just watched party of one. Holy Shit! Pinkie Pie is hylarious and disterbing at the same time. I haven't seen anything fun there. It was more like an escape from outside world. See, human's brain is an interesting thing: when something terrible happens, so much terrible that it can affect sanity, it tries to hide/delude/defy the event(s). In PP case it created her delusional friends, replacing the loss of her real friends.

Took some guts making Pinkie a bit creepy, and it was a good angle. It supplemented the moral of the episode much better than if it were downplayed. (I'm sure anyone can imagine how flat the episode could've fallen in that case)

It's not too late to do stuff about it, but it could come with the price of pissing lots of people off and making us look possibly worse. That is, we'd have to start enforcing different rules, call out those who break said rules, and distance ourselves from those who make the pony fans look bad.

The inherent problem with the pony fandom is the same one that ruined the furry fandom: because of how unusual the idea of the fandom in general is (grown men liking talking ponies made for girls), the people within the fandom think they have free reign to do whatever the fuck it is they feel like with consideration or feedback from other members of the group. Basically: "I'M BEING A CREEPY FUCKWAD AND NOBODY CAN STOP ME."

Many fandoms are very, VERY quick to out those people and try to maintain a good reputation, but other fandoms start far too late to get rid of the negative reputation gained from this painfully vocal minority.
