So, as we all know, a Sonic Rainboom is pretty much the same as a Sonic Boom. The only difference is one has a rainbow. A sonic boom happens when an object is traveling faster than the speed of sound. The speed of sound is 768 miles an hour. Five miles a second. The time it takes for Rainbow Dash to reach (close to) the ground is 33 seconds. This means that the sky is so incredibly high in the air that she can go 5 miles per second or less and reach the ground in 33 seconds. She was probably averaging 3 miles a second. 3 miles a second times 33 seconds to make it to the ground = 99 miles. The sky is 99 miles, probably more, above the ground. Our sky is like three miles above the ground. Another thing is that even if she was doing a Sonic Rainboom horizontally, it would still be impossible. Airplanes have to be built to withstand very high pressure while doing sonic booms as well as the high wind speed. If Rainbow Dash actually did a Sonic Rainboom in real life, she would be shredded to bits by wind and air pressure.

Pinkie being manic depressive wouldn't be surprising. It's not uncommon that people who appear constantly happy, confident and outgoing with a good sense of humour are severely depressed - they just do a good job of hiding it. Most comedians struggle with depression at some point in their life - first one that comes to mind for me is Sarah Silverman, who in some sense kind of reminds me of Pinkie Pie I guess in her silliness (though a more obnoxious kind of silly I suppose), and I know she battled Depression for a long time.

Today's episode was an absolute riot. Batshit insane and angry Pinkie is best Pinkie

I like all the ponies, but I think I liked Pinkie the least out of all because her character seemed the most shallow. She can be very funny in any scene she's in, but she never showed any other emotion that wasn't happy and random. Seeing such an angry and rather unstable Pinkie today really added some (hilarious) depth to her character.

Honestly, this is probably my favorite episode so far. Fun stuff: the intro bit with Pinkie getting tired of singing toward the end, all of the ponies making up excuses, the James Bond-esque sequences, the interrogation scene with Spike, and to watch Pinkie's mind crumble like that is one of the highlights of the series so far... Great execution with Pinkie's twitching and the related background changes.

Of course it was a cliche plot, but who cares? This series' strong point is the characters and their wacky interactions on screen. When you have personalities like this that bleed through the TV so strongly, you don't really need some complex plot to keep you happy. It's a character driven kid's show, and it works.

With the end of the season coming up, I don't plan on writing anymore requested fanfiction after the last episode airs. Gonna take a hiatus until the beginning of the next season, mainly because I think it would probably be best if I didn't give the fandom mostly unwanted things during the downtime. I imagine fanfiction would be one of those things.

In the meantime, I've got about 5 requests in my lineup and then I have to do the friend off so I've got one hell of a night ahead of me.

I don't want open up this can of worms again, but it's bound to come up sooner or later.

I'm genuinely curious about what the people over at Ponychan will do once this season is over. They seem to be the most attached to the show more than any part of the fandom I've seen.

I think for them, it's not really about the show so much as it's about using the whole pony/friendship gimmick as a unique frontend for social networking. Kind of like GaiaOnline, it has a very unique anime avatar sort of vibe that people use to chat through, that differentiates it from just normal chatrooms or messageboards. So, they may get bored of it, or they may not. I bet they can continue on even without the show really.
