Use pen tool, stroke with brush, maybe reduce hardness as necessary. Never stroke with pencil. Simulate Pressure option might help too.
Alternatively, use pen tool, draw for both sides of the line (draw start point, draw end of curve, alt+click end point, then connect the next curve back to the start point), and then fill path. Gives you complete control on how your lines look. Adjust Feather Radius to avoid hard edges.

I've seen some videos where it automatically smooths and pressures the lines, but I don't know how to get that to work.
