Would a plot like this ever fly for a real episode:

One (or two) of the mane ponies have fallen ill to a rare and potentially life-threatening disease, so the rest of the group head out to unknown and dangerous territory to find a cure. After much trouble with the locals and a fight with their boss, they return home with the cure, only to find that the sick ponies are well again, the cure being as simple to find as walking into a store and buying it.

What would be the moral of this "episode", then? Need ideas.

Leave out the "potentially life-threatening" (or leave that merely implied, rather than outright stated) and I don't see why not. Maybe Twilight read about a cure in one of her books, but it requires some rare herb from the far end of Equestria, so she and some or all of the unaffected mane cast members go get it, yadda yadda. When they get back, turns out Zecorah new a local remedy and already cured the sick ponies. Moral is something about not dismissing your friends or remembering to ask for help or somesuch (does it really matter? The writers obviously just tack the morals on after they've written the story.).

I don't know whether or not it'd fly for an actual episode, but you wouldn't be able to have all the main characters searching for this 'cure'. You have to have one character go find it on her own without listening to what the others are saying. As we already have a pony who is headstrong AND loyal, Rainbow Dash would fill that role perfectly. You'd have to have some (or all) of the other main ponies chasing after her, trying to get her to come back before she does something unnecessarily foalish.

The moral at the end would be that it pays to think about things before you do them, and not not just rush headlong into things.

I made this shirt as a sort of mock CMC Uniform. Obviously, the first version, I made as a kids shirts in kids sizes, but I'll make an adult size one as well if people like it. I thought "fuck it whatever"and I sat there and watched 3 episodes with her. (If it matters they were the flying bug episode, the winter team up one, and the one where the owl replaces spike)

Well, your mileage may vary. If you think it's okay and other people think it's terrible and other *other* people think it's great, it's probably evidence that the show can have a strong impact on the viewer depending on their predilictions.

I for one have no children nor am I related to anyone who's a child right now, so watching the ponies is endearing in a childlike innocence sort of way. I can watch it and remember the experience of being young and bright-eyed again.

Spike is about two years old at the time of the pilot. I called that Year 1000 for clarity: 1000 years after Nightmare Moon was imprisoned.

And that's my first time making kids merch. Funny story, I was getting ready to make a CMC shoe next before my shop got taken down by The Man.

I mentioned that I called Toys R Us, they've agreed to work with me a bit since i'm going to be buying lots of toy donations. I've scheduled to come in early December, and they're going to let me use a pallet jack to move stuff, and even give me a lackey to follow me around the store. It is going to be so much fun!

Also, the manager told me if I give him a list of toys I'd like to get, they'll try to have them in stock when I come in, the more ahead of time the better. Do you guys think there are specific pony toys I should go for, or just anything and everything? Personally, I'm thinking I should focus on the basic figures, since they don't cost that much compared to like the playsets and such. Quantity as well as quality, the more toys means more kids get toys.

A sequel is a definite possibility. It won't be for a little while since I've got finals this week but a couple of people asked for me to keep it going yesterday so I kind of skipped to the ending there.

I'm not sure where I would take the story after the meeting with Celestia, but if nothing else there's a two week gap that I'd love to fill in with more specific events. I never even got to use Applejack. And meeting Derpy in the Poison Joke patch was actually going to be it's own section originally, I didn't flesh it out because I'm pressed for time but I would love to expand on that.

The hardest part honestly is trying to maintain each pony's personality and making sure I'm having them say things that sound like they would say instead of just stuff I would say. Fluttershy is the one I had the most difficulty with.

If I could convince a jury that there were so many similarities that it was likely the producers had read my story and stolen it, I could even win the case. Even if I couldn't prove it, Hasbro's lawyers cost so much money that they might settle out of court. Now, if the producers have a policy of never reading any fanfiction, then it's that much easier for them to put up a defense. Might even get thrown out before ever going to court. Their are whole firms that specialize in this kind of law.
