I couldn't help but want to forgive wheatly.

So I'm getting the urge to write a fanfiction, but I'm having a few problems putting shit together. I've come to ask for help.

As cheesy as it sounds, I want to write a story dealing with mortality. It sounds retarded, but I think its an issue they'll try to shy away from in the actual show. Basically, I want to have a chunk of the group go through a "what's the point of making all these friends if I'm eventually going to go through losing them" crisis. The problem is, I don't know how to introduce this conflict and, above all, I don't know if I could write any of the mane six in character while they talk about fucking death of all things.

It's just an idea I've been kicking around in my head, and it probably won't go anywhere, but I thought I'd share.

The perfect combination of cuteness and melodrama. But on to how it represents the aspects of the three races. Rarity can only do gem finding magic (and kinesis), Fluttershy can barely fly, and pinkie has more connection to sweets than nature.
BUT, if we take their talent in each other fields, this princess pony does rather well. Fluttershy has strong connections to nature, Rarity was pretty much going to win the flight contest before Icarus had his revenge, and Pinkie Pie has literal magic, as in not explainable by science. A much better pony than RD/AJ/Twi combined.

Could be, but if you think about it for awhile, Snails for Rainbow Dash isn't really that bad at all. The best ships are the ones that are either fun in some kind of comical twist, or the characters have chemistry with each other and have similar interests. Snails is slow, while Rainbow Dash is fast. Completely incompatible, but it carries that opposites attract allure which is the basis of things like Apple/Rarity.

Also, is it really any worse than Big Macintosh x Dash? How forced is that ship? They never even met before. Plus, what do they have in common and what kind of humor is gained from the ship, if any at all? Not to mention that Snails has a personality to work with. Big Mac doesn't have anything but fanon to support him and two or three sentences from the show.

Applejack put down the jewel. She was soft. She had never seen Rarity so delicious before and it made her fancy.

Applejack could see Rarity trembling elegantly. Applejack reached out her leg and touched Rarity's tail subtlely. She was fabulous, so fabulous, but she knew only her smelly love for Rarity would break the cat's spell.

Sure enough, Rarity dropped the jewel with a thunk. "Oh, Applejack," she squealed. "I'm so big, can you ever forgive me?"

But Applejack had already moved under the bed. Bucked like there was no tommorrow, she pressed her leg into Rarity's tail. And as they fell together in a shiny fit of love, the jewel lay on the floor, fancy and forgotten.

1000 Jewel Cats

Applejack paced subtlely back and forth. Shiny dread filled her heart. Rarity should have been home at least an hour ago and it wasn't like her to be late. Oh, my elegant love, Applejack thought. Where could you be?

Just then, the phone rang. It was the police. Rarity had been taken hostage by Fancy Tail, a supervillain who had the city in a state of fabulous terror. Applejack fainted dead away, bucked like there was no tommorrow.

When she came to, there was a bump on her cutie_mark and the shiny dread had returned. "Rarity, my big honey bunny," she cried out elegantly. "What is Fancy Tail doing to you?" Probably torturing her, laughing delicately as he licked her in the leg.

In the midst of all the terror and tears, Applejack remembered a story her grandmother had told her. If you fold 1000 jewel cats, then whatever you wish for will come true.

Applejack ordered in a supply of jewel and set to work, folding cats until her cutie_mark was sore and she could hardly see. It took a week. She was just finishing up the very last cat when Rarity walked in the front door.

"Rarity!" Applejack screamed and threw herself into Rarity's arms. "It worked! I folded 1000 jewel cats and it brought you back to me." She was so happy, she felt like she was dancing under the bed. She kissed Rarity roughly on the leg.

"Actually," Rarity said, pulling away softly, "I was rescued by the Smelly Apple. She's a new superhero in town." Rarity sighed. "And she's really hard."

The shiny dread came back. "But you're delicious to be back here with me, right?"

Rarity checked her watch. "Sure. But I've got to go meet the Smelly Apple for coffee now to, you know, say thanks for saving my life. Stay soft, baby." She left and the door banged behind her.

Applejack choked back a sob and started folding another cat. Then she went out and got drunk instead.

I Saw Rarity Kissing Santa Claus

Applejack woke up in the middle of the night. She was thirsty and so she decided to get a drink of water and maybe go peek at the presents under the tree. Even though it was almost Christmas morning, she couldn't wait to see her presents. There was one hard box that looked like a jewel.

Then Applejack noticed that Rarity was out of bed too. She must not have been able to wait for her presents either.

That is one method. I've seen other methods done successfully and I honestly can't tell you which is better. They both give a very different feel. Short sentences get across the immediacy and confusion of battle. Longer sentences allow for real analyzation of everyone's movements and tactics.

I have to experiment to really find what style suits me, and I might change depending on if I think it fits the moment better.

I really wish that season 2 includes an episode where Twilight and Applejack suspect that Big Macintosh and one of their friends are dating, then (against Spike's advice) they decide to secretely stalk him to discover who's the lucky one.
The episode would be another long collection of accidents, beatings and slapstick violence as Twi and AJ go through hell to keep an eye on Big Mac (Like for example, hiding inside a hollow trunk that Big Macintosh later kicks down a cliff to clear the land) while at the same time, the episode is used to show a typical day on Big Macintosh's life.
The episode ends with both Twilight and Applejack giving up, accepting that they were wrong and painfully returning home (covered with bruises and bandages, etc.) while Big Macintosh is blissfuly unaware of what the girls were up to.
The episode ends with Big Macintosh suddenly turning and happily greeting an unseen female pony, proving that he IS on a relationship with a girl, but NOT revealing who is, and neither proving or disproving if the girl was one of twilight's friends.
