I thought it was a good thing that those two episodes covered similar themes but in different ways so that kids wouldn't get a sloppy moral. When a friend makes a new friend that's good, reliable, and happy to share your friend with you (the owl), you should be happy, not jealous. But when a friend makes a friend that *is* bad, mean, doesn't want to share, wants you out of their life, then it's right to show your friend that they haven't really made a friend (Gilda).
If you only learned one of those lessons you might try to apply it to the other situation, driving off a friend's friend who was a good friend OR tolerating a friend's bad friend who was driving you apart. The lesson is for kids to use their judgement. |
