The only mention of money that I can think of is during The Art of the Dress where the ponies mention staying within budget. Other than that, I don't think they actually have a monetary system, more like a communist utopia, where the ponies provide for one another simply as their lifelong duty to ponyville, even branded for what they do.

FULL RETARD. I am nearly convinced the majority of the people siding with the Fanfic Digest option #4 are not authors themselves.

Yes, it would reduce clutter on the blog and would be easier than making a new site. But at the same time it completely kills feedback and ratings for individual fics and delegates whatever fics are deemed "average" by the select few pre-readers to not getting a chance in full view of the public eye.

The worst part is if the Digest idea takes hold, there isn't a damn thing we can do about it because EqD will STILL get us more views than any other site.
