Fluttershy sat back in the black leather chair, stroking the bunny in her lap. She looked across the room at the nervous young colt who stood facing her, awkwardly shifting from one hoof to the other. She spoke slowly. “You come here, to my house, to ask me for forgiveness. Yet what you have done is inexcusable. Tell me, what am I to do with a fellow like you, who cannot even do a simple thing like keeping his mouth shut?” The colt dropped to his knees, the terror on his face evident. “Please, Don Flutter, they had my wife! You know I would never betray you, I only went because they said they would kill her if I didn’t come!” The pony was sweating profusely, stumbling over his words. “She’s the mother of my children! How could I not go?” “So you went. And you spoke with Don Toity. And now you come back to me?” “I didn’t tell him anything, Don Flutter, I swear! He tells me, Don Toity does, that my wife is still alive, but I didn’t tell him anything!” The colt sputtered. “Please, you have to believe me! I would never cross Don Flutter!” She regarded him in silence for what seemed an eternity. Finally she spoke. “I understand. You did what you had to. You may leave.” The colt rose at once, relief evident on his face. “Oh, thank you, Don Flutter! I knew you would understand! Oh thank you, thank you!” Practically tripping over himself, he exited, bowing the whole way. |
