Seriously now, here's my pitch for a season 2 episode:

Fluttershy meets some sort of Grandmother Willow-type tree, who's always wanted to be able to fly. Fluttershy tells her how she's always dreamed of becoming a tree. The two of them get TS to cast some spell that lets them switch places for a day, and they're both ecstatic.

Then Fluttersly finds out that emerald ash borer is a pain in the patootie, and Granny W discovers that flying burns calories pretty fast (and she can't bring herself to eat her old friends, the haystalks). The episode ends with both of them learning to just be happy with the body you've been given.

3 background ponies get their own episode in the next season, what 3 ponies and what is the plot?

Figured I'd get in on the action with my own Spike-centric episode:

it's been brought up before, about him feeling more mature, so I'd have a little plot device like Spike shedding or losing a scale or two. He thinks he's in for a real growth spurt, Twilight gets worried about it, but Spike starts trying to act mature before it's time. He embarrasses himself in front of Rarity and eventually learns that he needs to wait to grow up and enjoy his time as a baby dragon. All's well that ends well.

Also, since I just found the thread, I think the brony saying Rarity's special talent is gem finding is mistaken. You wouldn't say that Pinkie's talent is blowing up balloons would you? She was always meant to be a fashionista, its just that she was missing a certain something. The gems represent (symbolically) her quest for excellence and extravagance.

I think every previous generation shows that they really don't give a damn about the show. Personally, I hope that that means they won't see any reason to interfere in any great way, but it also means that it'll probably just get axed one season and there's very little we can do about it. I like to think Twilight would admire Rainbow for her all around strength and especially for her assertiveness. As a bookworm coming into the world and seeking to break out of her shell, she'd be enamored with these qualities. She wants to be a leader herself someday, after all. Rainbow has the other qualities that Twilight herself would need to grow into such a position. This is why they were paired together as the new reigning princesses in Forever is Forever (I'm guessing). In turn Dash would take Twilight on because she likes the admiration. Well, that's the premise of my fanfic anyway. Makes a good pairing to me, opposites attract and all, but still some common elements between them.

I think ship discussion is fun because it's all about how the characters operate. It's like show discussion and fanon discussion all in one. A theoretical What If? Because all that really distinguishes love from a simple good friendship is attraction. Throw in that one element, and they'd start pairing off (and it's not like there are a lot of males you can pair them with for the discussion either).
